Austrian Envoy Summoned to Iran Foreign Ministry over Allegations on Tehran's Nuclear Program
Following the unfounded claims about Iran's peaceful nuclear program in the annual assessment report by Austria's intelligence agency, Ms. Michaela Pacher, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Austrian Embassy in Tehran (in the absence of the ambassador), was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Friday, where Iran’s strong protest was formally conveyed.
During the meeting, Alireza Mola-Qaddimi, Director-General of the First Western Europe Department at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, strongly denied and condemned the Austrian intelligence agency’s claims as irresponsible and baseless.Mola-Qaddimi stated that the allegations in the Austrian intelligence agency’s annual assessment report were provocative and completely contradictory to multiple reports by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).He demanded an official explanation from the Austrian government. The Austrian intelligence agency had claimed in its report that the Islamic Republic of Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons to expand its regional influence. The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baqaei, had earlier described the Austrian intelligence agency’s claim as false and baseless.
