Iran Says to Continue Peaceful Nuclear Program
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kana'ani said the Islamic Republic will go ahead with its peaceful nuclear plans and projects within the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), safeguard agreements, and away from political pressures and spaces.
In reaction to some segments of the G7 summit statement, Kana'ani said to defend its security and national interests in the face of any uncalculated behavior, Iran will act resolutely. Stressing that Iran's nuclear program is totally peaceful, Kana'ani said the recent anti-Iran resolution adopted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)'s Board of Governors reaffirms the political approach of the initiators of the resolution in abusing international mechanisms against independent states. Kana'ani pointed to the illegal move by the US and the three European countries as the root cause of the current status surrounding Iran's nuclear work. The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman meanwhile pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran, under its international commitments, will continue constructive cooperation and collaboration with the IAEA.In another part of his comments, Kana'ani lashed out at the G7 heads of state for their indifference towards mass killing and targeted onslaught of the Palestinians by the Apartheid Zionist regime, describing it as their double standards regarding human rights.
