Iranian Pilgrims Cross Through Shalamcheh for Arbaeen
The Shalamcheh border crossing in Iran's Southwestern Khuzestan Province is receiving growing numbers of pilgrims traveling to Iraq for the annual Arbaeen pilgrimage to the holy city of Karbala.
Arbaeen marks the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hossein (AS), the grandson of the last Prophet of God Mohammad (PBUH), and is one of the largest annual religious gatherings in the world. Millions of pilgrims travel to the Iraqi holy city of Karbala each year to commemorate the occasion.
