First Group of Iranian Hajj Pilgrims Returns Home

The first group of Iranian pilgrims returning from the 2026 Hajj arrived in Tehran on Monday, marking the start of a nationwide repatriation operation following completion of the annual pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. [PHOTOS]
The first return flight landed at Imam Khomeini International Airport after departing from Jeddah earlier in the day. The aircraft carried 230 pilgrims and completed the journey in about four hours.The arrival marked the official beginning of Iran’s operation to return thousands of pilgrims who participated in this year’s Hajj rituals.During the outbound phase, 30,672 Iranian pilgrims were transported to Saudi Arabia on 264 flights departing from Tehran, Mashhad, and Zahedan. Eight Airbus aircraft operated by Iran’s national carrier were deployed for the mission.
All outbound flights arrived in Medina, while return services are departing from Jeddah and heading to several destinations across Iran.According to Hajj operation officials, 10 return flights were scheduled on the first day of the repatriation process, carrying pilgrims to Tehran, Mashhad, Gorgan, and Shiraz.
The repatriation operation is scheduled to continue through June 14, when all Iranian pilgrims are expected to have returned home.
