Traditional Rice Barns in Northern Iran Showcase Agricultural Heritage

Mazandaran is one of Iran's leading rice-producing provinces, and the 'Kandoj' structures — built with wooden and cement bases to keep snakes and rats out — represent a valuable legacy of the area's agricultural culture.
'Kandoj' is a traditional raised barn used in Northern Iran for storing rice and other grains. The elevated design and smooth pillars prevent pests from climbing into the storage area.
