The figures include representatives of the Medes, Elamites, Armenians, Bactrians, Babylonians, and others—each distinguished by their attire and offerings, symbolizing the diversity and grandeur of the ancient Persian realm.
This intricate artwork portrays 23 delegations from various nations and peoples of the Achaemenid Empire bringing tribute to the Persian king. Arranged in three rows, each group is led by an usher holding a staff and guiding the delegation’s leader toward the royal audience.
