Rescue Operations Expand After Deadly Blast at Shahid Rajaei Port
Following a major explosion at Shahid Rajaei Port in Southern Iran, authorities confirmed four fatality and reported that over 500 people were injured. [MORE PHOTOS]
Hormozgan’s governor announced that four person lost their life in the blast, and comprehensive updates will be released soon. Babak Yektaperest, spokesperson for Iran’s emergency services, said the number of injured has climbed to 516, with hospitals in Shiraz clearing 90 beds to accommodate incoming patients.
Meanwhile, Babak Mahmoudi, head of the Red Crescent’s rescue division, stated that four rapid response teams were immediately deployed, later increasing to seven. The National Emergency Organization also dispatched two marine ambulances to assist at the port.Rescue and medical operations have been rapidly scaled up as emergency teams flood the area.
