Container Ship Runs Aground After Deviating from Iran's Designated Shipping Lane in Strait of Hormuz
A foreign container ship ran aground in regional waters after sailing through the Strait of Hormuz outside the official shipping lanes designated by the Islamic Republic of Iran. [+VIDEO]
The vessel was navigating outside Iran's officially designated routes in the Strait of Hormuz when it became grounded after choosing an unsafe and shallow passage, leaving it unable to continue its voyage. The incident occurred despite repeated warnings by the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy to vessels, shipping companies and maritime operators that any entry into or departure from the Strait through routes other than the officially designated shipping corridors could result in serious consequences and irreparable losses.According to the report, recent assessments indicate that some countries, relying on media narratives and trusting US claims and assurances, have in recent months attempted to use routes outside the maritime framework established by the Islamic Republic of Iran for transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The report says the incident has once again demonstrated the failure of such calculations and the strategic misjudgments behind them. The Islamic Republic of Iran has designated the official inbound and outbound shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz South of Hormuz and Larak Islands. Vessels navigating within this corridor and after prior coordination are provided with full security and operational protection from the moment they enter the Persian Gulf until they depart.
Iran's designated route, owing to its adequate depth, standard corridor width, and the comprehensive operational and intelligence oversight of the Islamic Republic of Iran's armed forces, is considered the safest passage for all types of vessels, particularly commercial ships and oil tankers.
