Iran Reaffirms Peaceful Nuclear Policy, Hails Recent US Agreement as Major National Achievement
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed that the Islamic Republic is not seeking nuclear weapons, stressing that Iran assures the international community that its nuclear activities will continue solely in line with the country's needs and within the framework of its declared policies.
Referring to the Islamic Republic's longstanding position on its nuclear program, Pezeshkian said that the Martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution had previously made it unequivocally clear that Iran does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, adding that the Islamic Republic remains firmly committed to that position.During a meeting with Grand Ayatollah Shobeiri Zanjani, one of the country's senior Shiite clerics, in the holy city of Qom, South of Tehran, Pezeshkian described the recent agreement between Iran and the United States as a significant achievement for the Iranian nation. He said the agreement represents a major victory for the Iranian people and has resulted in the lifting of sanctions on Iran's oil and petrochemical sectors.Pezeshkian stated that Iran's adversaries sought to undermine the country's development by targeting critical infrastructure. They also attempted to create unemployment and deepen economic hardship by restricting Iran's oil exports, but the determination of the Iranian people and divine providence ensured that the country's path toward progress and prosperity continued uninterrupted.
The president further said that despite the fact that Iran's enemies, during the recent war, martyred the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, cabinet ministers, military commanders, prominent elites, and even schoolchildren, the Iranian people, the Armed Forces, and the government stood together with strength to defend the country and prevented them from achieving their objectives.Stressing that the United States and the Israeli regime employed all available means to destabilize Iran, Pezeshkian said they believed that economic pressure and internal disruption would lead to the country's collapse. However, he added, the Iranian people thwarted those calculations through their steadfast support for the nation, while divine assistance also played a decisive role.Pezeshkian emphasized that national unity has been the decisive factor in overcoming challenges, saying that the Islamic Republic's current strength and standing are the result of solidarity, cooperation, and close coordination between the Iranian people and state officials in defending the country's national interests.
