Iran Army Spokesman Says Recent War Highlighted Strategic Value of Strait of Hormuz
The spokesman for the Iranian Army said the Islamic Republic gained a deeper appreciation of its vast geopolitical capabilities during the recent war imposed by the United States and the Zionist regime, particularly regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
Brigadier General Mohammad Akrami-Nia told the Fars News Agency that for years there had been discussions about closing the Strait of Hormuz, but the recent war demonstrated in practical terms how this strategic leverage could effectively contribute to halting the enemy's war machine.Akrami-Nia said one of Iran's greatest achievements during the war was the consolidation of the Axis of Resistance. Following Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, Western analysts had claimed that the resistance front had disintegrated and that Hamas and Hezbollah had been weakened. However, he said, the recent war proved not only that unity remained intact, but that cohesion among resistance groups had grown even stronger. He added that Iran developed more advanced military equipment throughout the conflict. In the final days of the war, the country deployed new drones whose research and development had begun earlier and were successfully brought into operational service during the conflict. He also said upgraded missiles with enhanced capabilities were fielded across the Armed Forces by both the Army and the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).Akrami-Nia said another key achievement of the war was the "precise identification of our weaknesses." He noted that from the very first day of the conflict, efforts focused on addressing those shortcomings and transforming them into strengths.
According to the Iranian Army spokesman, another major outcome was raising awareness among regional countries. He said they realized that relying on the United States does not guarantee their security. During the war, he argued, the United States failed not only to protect its own infrastructure and military bases, but also did not prioritize the defense of its Arab allies. He further stated that the United States devoted all its efforts to intercepting drones and missiles heading toward the Zionist regime, while committing far fewer resources to defending Arab countries. Akrami-Nia described this as a major betrayal of Washington's regional allies, saying that despite collecting billions of dollars in oil revenues from those countries in exchange for security guarantees, the United States ultimately lacked both sufficient defensive capabilities and the willingness to prioritize their protection.Brigadier General Akrami-Nia also praised the strong public support for the Islamic Republic, describing it as a significant factor in confronting the country's enemies.
