Major Airlines Resume Flights to Iran After Two-Month Halt
International carriers have restarted flights to Iran following a two-month suspension prompted by rising regional tensions and the 12-day conflict between Iran and the Israeli regime.
Aviation analysts say the return of these services could provide a boost to Iran’s tourism and airline industries.According to Travel and Tour, several major airlines — including Qatar Airways, Lufthansa Group, and Air India — have resumed operations to Tehran and other Iranian cities after the regional security climate showed signs of stability. Qatar Airways was the first to return, operating flight QTR498 to Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport on Saturday. This marked its first service since June 11, when flights were halted due to the outbreak of fighting. Lufthansa restarted flights in early August, while Air India and FlyDubai resumed in July. Notably, Afghanistan’s Kam Air continued flying to Iran throughout the suspension.Experts suggest the reopening of routes will deliver substantial economic benefits. Tourism, hit by the pause in flights, is expected to rebound as foreign visitors once again gain access to sites such as Persepolis and Isfahan’s Imam Khomeini Square. The resumption of services is also expected to strengthen business travel and regional trade.
