Deputy Minister: Iran Among Top 20 Global Tourist Destinations in Early 2025
Iran has ranked among the world’s top 20 tourist destinations in the first quarter of 2025, according to the latest report by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), announced by Anoushirvan Mohseni-Bandpey, Deputy Iranian Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts.
Mohseni-Bandpey stated that the data covers the period from January to March 2025. He noted that during this period — before the outbreak of the 12-day imposed war — Iran recorded its best regional performance in attracting international tourists and became a model of stability, appeal, and diverse destinations.He emphasized that this achievement reflects not only Iran’s inherent tourism potential but also the result of smart policymaking, private sector collaboration, infrastructure development, and a more accurate global portrayal of Iran’s true image.The Deputy Minister also stressed the importance of continuing and deepening international tourism marketing strategies, highlighting the role of the official “Visit Iran” website as a key portal for global engagement. He further underlined the need to leverage social media to create authentic, localized narratives of travel experiences in Iran, noting the crucial roles of both public and private sectors in tourism development.
