Iran President: If Israel Aggression Had Gone Unanswered, Full-Scale War Could Have Happened
At the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) summit, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that unchecked Israeli aggression could have led to a widespread and uncontrollable war in the region.
Participating via videoconference, Pezeshkian stated that Iran’s recent military response to the US and Israeli aggression was a legitimate act of self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. He condemned Israel for its brutal and unlawful armed attacks on June 12, which included strikes on peaceful nuclear facilities inside Iran.President Pezeshkian noted that these attacks took place amid indirect talks between Tehran and Washington over Iran’s nuclear program. He strongly criticized both the US and the Israeli regime, calling their military actions against Iran clear violations of international law and harmful to the global non-proliferation framework. He stressed that Iran’s nuclear activities remain fully monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).Calling out the international community's continued tolerance of Israel’s repeated human rights abuses, Pezeshkian urged EAEU members to jointly condemn the recent aggression and highlight its dangerous regional and global implications. On the economic front, he praised the Iran–EAEU free trade agreement as a major milestone for regional cooperation and a key opportunity to expand trade among member countries.
