Iranian Official: 4.3 Million Megawatt-Hours of Electricity Produced at Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant
An official from the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant announced that this facility, located in Southern Iran, has produced 4.3 million megawatt-hours of nuclear electricity in the past nine months since the beginning of the current Iranian year.
Reza Banazadeh, the CEO of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Operating Company, told reporters on Wednesday that since the plant's launch, it has generated 70 million megawatt-hours of electricity, which has significantly contributed to energy supply, especially in the Southern regions of the country. He noted that the presence of the 1,000-megawatt Bushehr plant in this part of the country helps maintain the stability of the power grid, ensuring that the addition or removal of new consumers from the network is not felt.Banazadeh added that the Bushehr nuclear power plant functions like a balancing weight to stabilize the frequency of the grid in this region. He also highlighted the importance of nuclear electricity in preventing the emission of polluting gases.Banazadeh emphasized that prior to the commissioning of this nuclear plant, Bushehr Province relied on electricity imports from other provinces in Iran; however, it is now both a consumer and producer of electricity. The Iranian official stressed that with the electricity generation from two units of 1,057 megawatts currently under construction, the total output at the Bushehr nuclear power center will reach 3,100 megawatts, significantly contributing to the country's energy needs.Banazadeh also underscored the role of Iranian specialists in the production of nuclear electricity at the Bushehr plant.
