IRGC Strikes Dozens of American Military Targets in Response to US Raids
The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) hit 85 US military targets in Bahrain and Kuwait with missiles and drones in an initial response to American onslaught against Iranian territory.
"In the initial response to the US aggression, the naval and aerospace forces of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, in a joint missile and drone operation, struck 85 locations of important US military facilities at Salman Port, the US Fifth Fleet area in Bahrain, and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait," the IRGC said in a statement on Wednesday. The statement added the attacks came as millions of mourners in Iran and Iraq participated in funeral ceremonies for the martyred Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, describing the raids as an endeavour by Washington to overshadow the historic gatherings after its military defeat during the recent assault against Iran.
The announcement came after the US launched a fresh wave of military attacks on Ion "a number of coastal bases and non-military stations" in the Southern Hormozgan province and Mahshahr, which "openly violated the ceasefire" and "trampled the Islamabad understanding".
The IRGC also announced the downing of an MQ-9 drone, stressing the aircraft attempted to interfere with the operation before it was shot down.
