Iran Lashes Out at US for Supporting Daesh
Tehran announced that Washington should be held accountable for providing support for the terrorist group Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL).
Asked about a resurgence of the Daesh terror outfit in some parts of West Asia and the world, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baqaei said during a weekly press conference on Monday the United States and Israel must be held accountable for their support for terrorism and Daesh and its repercussions.He added that Washington, the Tel Aviv regime and some parties have supported terrorism and Daesh terrorists by acting irresponsibly and paying no heed to the consequences of their actions.The diplomat pointed out that US President Donald Trump had explicitly referred to this during his election campaign.
Several reports during the past years, have revealed that US soldiers occupying Syria were providing logistical and military support to Daesh Takfiri militants.The US and Israel have been the key supporters of terrorist groups during the war in the Middle Eastern country and have frequently targeted military positions inside Syria.Iran has slammed the US as the "godfather of Daesh", stressing there was no doubt Washington is the creator of the terror outfit.
"The persistence of the Zionist regime’s crimes, the constant attacks against Syria and efforts by this regime and its supporters to turn Syria into a failed state and a fragmented country are all directly contributing to the expansion and reproduction of terrorism,” the Iranian spokesman emphasized.
