FFIRI Chief Demands FIFA to Expel Israel over War Against Iran
President of the Iranian Football Federation Mehdi Taj stated that the body has demanded that FIFA expel the Zionist regime from the body over its imposed war against Iran last month, which featured deadly and destructive attacks on athletes and sports-related complexes.
The federation has conveyed the request in a letter addressed to Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, senior vice-president of the FIFA Council, Taj said in a televised interview on Monday.“[The Israelis] attacked our territorial integrity, they attacked the Football Federation itself, they attacked the national team’s training camp, and they martyred our referee,” he added.
The Israeli regime unleashed its war against Iran last month, with American backing, assassinating several top-ranking military commanders and scientists, as well as martyring hundreds of civilians, including women and children.More than 1,000 people were martyred and over 5,600 injured in the Israeli regime’s attacks.
“Thirty of our country’s [football] players suffered injuries during the attacks,” Taj stated.“We wrote that a decision must be made on this matter. We also wrote to FIFA, itself, stating that Israel should be shown a red card and expelled from the body," he continued.
