Nuclear Chief: Foreigners Lack Authority or Business Dictating Iran’s Policies
Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami said Tehran determines its direction based on its own goals and interests, adding that no foreign state can dictate the country’s path.
Eslami said on Saturday Tehran chooses its own path based on national goals and interests and will never allow anybody to dictate to it. He added that identity and values define the Islamic Republic’s path.
Iran and the United States have held fifth rounds of negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program, with uranium enrichment emerging as the key issue. The latest round on Friday came amid repeated shifts in US stances, which have prompted Iranian officials to criticize the “contradictory” statements made by their American counterparts.Contradictory statements by US officials, including “complete cessation” of Iran's uranium enrichment activities, have left the fate of negotiations in limbo. Tehran has emphasized it will continue uranium enrichment, whether or not an accord is reached with Washington.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the nuclear chief noted that Iran is currently in a good position in the fields of industrial science and technology, on par with developed countries that have invested millions of dollars."It is difficult for the world’s developed countries to see that Iran has caught up with them in the nuclear industry," he stated.
