Ukrainian Specialists Train Terrorists to Operate Drones in Syria

Ukrainian instructors have trained Syrian terrorists to use their tactics, a private military company representative studying drones in Syria told Sputnik.
“I can assume with 100% certainty that the militants are trained by foreign specialists and instructors. I’ve been in the special military operation zone, and I saw how UAVs are working there. When I came here, I saw that the militants use the same tactics as the Ukrainians did,” he said.He added that [Syrian] militants started using kamikaze drones at night, indicating that these drones are equipped with night vision cameras or thermal imagers.Such tactics are typical of Ukrainian servicemen in the special military operation zone, he stressed.
In a piece published on Sunday, the Kyiv Post claimed some militant groups that attacked Syria's Aleppo province received training from a Special Forces unit of the Ukrainian military intelligence service (HUR).According to the Kiev-based weekly, some militant groups based in Syria’s Idlib province, which is not under government control, were provided “operational training” by the Khimik Group, reportedly an HUR Special Forces unit. The Ukrainians reportedly focused on educating the terrorists on tactics developed during the ongoing conflict with Russia, including the use of drones, the Kyiv Post reported, citing “Islamist social media sites".The Khimik Group has reportedly been active in Syria for quite some time. In September, the Ukrainian weekly claimed that the unit successfully attacked a Russian military base on the outskirts of Aleppo, inflicting material damage. Moscow did not comment on the reports at the time.Last Wednesday, a loose coalition of Idlib-based militant groups led by Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS), a terrorist group formerly known as Jabhat Al-Nusra, attacked government-controlled territory in Aleppo province. HTS was previously known as an Al-Qaeda affiliate. The terrorists have claimed to have seized hundreds of square kilometers of territory. Government troops have since halted the terror group’s advance, with both the Russian and Syrian air forces launching strikes against the militants in recent days.
