Iranian FM: All Regional States Duty-Bound to Stop Israel’s Crimes

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi stressed the urgent need to halt Israel's crimes in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon to prevent further escalation of tensions in the West Asian region.
In a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia'a Al-Sudani in Baghdad on Sunday, Araqchi said West Asia is in "a dangerous situation" amid the Israeli acts of aggression in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. He called on all the regional countries to adopt more measures to end Israel’s crimes in the besieged enclave and the continuation of its assault against Lebanon. The top diplomat added Iran feels a responsibility to regional security and stability, and emphasized that prevention of an escalation of the security condition in West Asia requires an immediate cessation of Israel’s criminal acts in the tiny territory and Lebanon. He stressed that the United States and other countries, which are exporting lethal weapons and military equipment to Israel, are responsible for putting an end to the regime's offensive.
Israel’s October-present genocidal war on the Gaza Strip has killed more than 42,000 people, mostly children and women, and injured over 98,000 others. The figures exclude tens of thousands of dead who are believed to be buried in the bombed-out ruins of homes, shops, shelters and other buildings. The military campaign has turned much of the besieged enclave of 2.3 million people into ruins, leaving most civilians homeless and at risk of famine.Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the war-ravaged territory. The escalation against Lebanon, which began following the launch of the military onslaught on the Gaza Strip in last October, has witnessed the regime carrying out countless deadly attacks against the Lebanese territory.More than 2,300 people in Lebanon have been killed since October 2023, the majority in the last few weeks since Israel intensified its military onslaught, and more than 1.2 million people have been displaced, according to Lebanese authorities.
The Iraqi prime minister, for his part, highlighted the significance of holding constant consultations among the regional countries in order to prevent a full-scale war in the region.Sudani said the Iraqi government and nation are resolute on supporting the Palestinian and Lebanese people in the face of Israel’s genocidal war and aggression.
