Iran Dismisses Claim of Training Russian Soldiers in Ukraine

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kana'ani rejected Kiev's claim that an Iranian officer was training Russian soldiers in the Ukrainian soil amid the war between the two neighbors.
Kana'ani on Friday refuted the baseless claims that an Iranian military officer was on Ukrainian soil to train Russian soldiers. He said that such unfounded allegations are made with specific political motives and objectives, adding that the accusations contradict Iran's principled approach to the conflict in Ukraine.
His remarks came after Ukraine's Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin claimed a case has been opened against a general within the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on suspicion of aiding Russia in war and war crimes against Ukraine.Kiev and its Western allies have repeatedly accused Tehran of providing Russia with weapons to be used in the war in Ukraine.Tehran has reiterated that it will not help either side in the Russia-Ukraine crisis, and cautioned that arming Moscow or Kiev will prolong the war between the two neighbors.Tehran has also asked Kiev to submit evidence for the use of Iranian-made drones by Russia in the Ukraine war, but the government of President Volodymyr Zelensky has so far provided no proof.
Reiterating Iran's opposition to war, Kana'ani emphasized the need to halt the conflict and resolve disputes between Russia and Ukraine peacefully.
