UNICEF: Child Dies or Gets Hurt Every 17 Minutes in Gaza

On average, one child is killed or injured every 17 minutes as a result of Israel's attacks in the Gaza Strip, said Ricardo Pires, a representative of the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
According to him, for two years now, "children have paid the heaviest price in this crisis" in the Palestinian enclave. He stressed that "61,000 children have reportedly been either killed or maimed since the horrors Hamas unleashed in Israel and what followed after the disproportionate response from Israel that is still ongoing"."That's an average of one child either killed or maimed every 17 minutes. This is an unacceptable, staggering figure that we still have to live with today," Pires concluded. On Sunday, Gaza’s Government Media Office stated that Israeli army killed nearly 20,000 children during the ongoing genocidal war in Gaza since October 2023.It added that the bodies of more than 19,450 children were brought to hospitals, while over 12,500 women were also killed, including about 10,160 whose bodies were recovered.Since October 2023, Israeli bombardment has killed more than 67,100 Palestinians in the enclave, and rendered it uninhabitable, with the blockade also pushing Gaza to famine.Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former War Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
