Second Iranian Ship Passes Through Strait of Hormuz, Despite US Naval Blockade Claim
Following the US announcement of a naval blockade on Iran, a second Iranian ship has passed through open waters and the Strait of Hormuz and is now moving toward Imam Khomeini Port.
While CENTCOM claims to have imposed a complete naval blockade on Iranian ports and states that "no ship has been able to breach the blockade," ship tracking data shows that a bulk carrier carrying food goods has entered the Persian Gulf and is heading toward Imam Khomeini Port.The bulk carrier entered Iranian waters from open waters on Wednesday.Earlier Wednesday, a very large crude carrier (VLCC) — listed on the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions list — also entered Iranian waters through open waters and the Strait of Hormuz, without any concealment and with its tracking transponder activated.According to maritime navigation sources, the VLCC, capable of carrying two million barrels of crude oil, effectively challenged US sanctions and CENTCOM threats by keeping its AIS system active, and reached its destination without any interference.According to US claims, no vessel is permitted to move from open waters toward Iran's coastline or dock in Iranian waters and ports.
