Iran, EU Express Readiness to Hold Talks on Mutual Concerns

Tehran and the European Union (EU) have voiced their readiness to hold political negotiations over their differences and mutual concerns, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced in a statement on Monday.
During a telephone conversation with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on Monday, Araqchi said Iran is ready to continue interactions with European parties, both within the framework of the EU and the three European countries. He expressed hope that Iran and the E3 would resume talks based on a constructive approach free from political spite. The top Iranian negotiator said the country has chosen a responsible approach in following the path of diplomacy to address the artificial concerns surrounding its peaceful nuclear program, stressing the need to pursue the path through serious will and realism. If it is claimed that the possibility of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons is the sole concern of the sides in the negotiations, “this concern can be eased”, the minister stated.“It is quite possible to reach an agreement in this regard but it requires avoidance of unrealistic and irrational positions,” he continued.
Earlier on Monday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baqaei said Iran has expressed its readiness to meet with the European troika – France, Germany and Britain – since long time ago.The sides were supposed to hold a meeting at the level of political directors in Rome but it was cancelled following the postponement of the high-level talks between Iran and the US, he added."We are ready to hold such a meeting and we should reach a consensus on the timing,” the spokesman emphasized. The remarks came after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that European countries needed to decide whether to reimpose sanctions on Iran.Tehran has described the European countries' threat to trigger the snapback mechanism— which fully reinstates anti-Tehran sanctions— as "unconstructive", and announced that the United Kingdom, France and Germany should make a decision whether they seek to play a role in the process of the talks.Iran's FM Announces Readiness to Visit European Capitals for Diplomacy
