*To the Secretary-General and the Honorable Members of the General Assembly of the United Nations*Your Excellencies,We wish to bring to your attention that more than twenty days have passed since the blatant aggression launched against the Islamic Republic of Iran by the United States of America and the Israeli regime—an act of war that occurred in parallel with ongoing diplomatic negotiations. This assault began with the martyrdom of the highest-ranking official of the Islamic Republic of Iran (the Supreme Leader), a number of military and political figures, and 168 innocent children in a school in the city of Minab. It has since continued, resulting in the deaths of thousands of Iranian civilians and scientists in residential areas, hospitals, nuclear facilities, and universities. The surprise attack on the Iranian destroyer Dena outside the combat zone constitutes a clear instance of war crime. We, the undersigned faculty members of Iran University of Science and Technology, respectfully submit the following points for your information and appropriate action:
1. Crimes Against Humanity Committed by the AggressorThe atrocities perpetrated against the Iranian people in recent days are unprecedented in the history of international conflicts. They must be prosecuted as war crimes before international tribunals. It is noteworthy that the Prime Minister of the Israeli regime—who initiated both this war and the previous one—has already been convicted of war crimes by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. His arrest and prosecution by international bodies would constitute a crucial step toward preventing further global instability and insecurity.2. Attacks on National and World HeritageDocumented evidence confirms that a number of historical and ancient sites—forming part of Iran’s cultural heritage and protected under international law—have been targeted and damaged in these attacks. Such strikes must be halted without delay.3. The Erosion of International LawThe open assassination of political and military leaders during ongoing negotiations and outside the context of armed conflict is a rare and alarming phenomenon that contravenes established international norms. The recurrence of such acts in the course of two successive wars has further weakened the foundations of the international legal order. This situation underscores the urgent need for the international community to move beyond
mere condemnation and take concrete action against the perpetrators to prevent the recurrence of such lawlessness.4. The Need for Remedial Action by the Security CouncilIt is a matter of profound concern that the Security Council, currently presided over by the aggressor state, has adopted an unjust and legally untenable resolution condemning Iran—the victim of aggression exercising its right to self-defense—while failing to name the states responsible for the attack. Any impartial observer would recognize that this situation demands immediate correction and reconsideration.5. Reparation for Material DamagesBeyond the grave human toll and legal violations, these attacks have inflicted immense material damage upon the Iranian people. Compensation for these losses must be addressed as part of the international community’s response. Conclusion and RequestIn light of the foregoing, we, the undersigned members of the academic community at Iran University of Science and Technology, call upon you to uphold the solemn responsibility entrusted to you before the conscience of nations and the international system. We urge you to act with urgency to unequivocally condemn this flagrant aggression—carried out in disregard of fundamental humanitarian and ethical principles and in defiance of the authority of the y
Security Council and the United Nations—to secure the immediate cessation of attacks, to ensure accountability for those responsible, and to take the necessary steps toward redress of the damages inflicted.Respectfully submitted,A Group of Faculty MembersIran University of Science and Technologپایان پیام/
