Tehran Short Film Festival Highlights Cinema’s Independent Artistic Value
The 43rd Tehran International Short Film Festival highlighted the independent artistic value of short films on October 20, as filmmaker Behrouz Shoeibi and other cinema professionals discussed the format’s role beyond serving as a stepping stone to feature filmmaking.
The discussion focused on the need to support short filmmaking as an independent cinematic field, including developing stronger financial and economic structures and expanding screening opportunities for short films.
Held under Shoeibi’s direction, the festival runs from October 17 to 22, 2026, at the Mellat Cineplex in Tehran, bringing together Iranian and international short films across several sections.
