Mashhad-to-Karbala Pilgrims Continue Arbaeen Walk Across Iraq
Pilgrims from the Mashhad-to-Karbala walking caravan, one of the longest overland Arbaeen pilgrimages, are continuing their journey across Iraq after more than 57 days on foot from Iran.
Arbaeen marks the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hossein (AS), the grandson of the last Prophet of God Mohammad (PBUH), and is one of the largest annual religious gatherings in the world. Millions of pilgrims travel to the Iraqi holy city of Karbala each year to commemorate the occasion.
