From the early hours of the morning, roads leading to the procession route were filled with mourners carrying Iranian flags, portraits of Ayatollah Khamenei, black mourning banners, and handwritten tributes. The procession marks the next stage of a multi-day funeral program that will continue in Qom, Najaf, and Karbala before concluding with the burial in the holy city of Mashhad.
