51 Dead, 20 Injured After Methane Explosion in Iranian Coal Mine

At least 51 people died following a methane gas explosion at a coal mine in Tabas, South Khorasan province, Eastern Iran. So far, 20 injured workers have been rescued from the mine by emergency teams.
The explosion occurred due to the sudden release of methane gas in one of the tunnels at the coal mine operated by Madanjo Company. At the time of the incident, dozens of miners were working underground.

According to Mohammad Ali Akhoundi, the Director General of South Khorasan's Crisis Management Department, eight specialized rescue teams are on-site, working to provide aid. All hospitals in the region have been prepared to receive any additional casualties.President Masoud Pezeshkian has ordered that the cause of this incident be thoroughly investigated and announced that decisive action should be taken against any potential culprits involved in this incident.
