Iran Holds Nationwide Military Parades to Mark Sacred Defense Week
Iran's armed forces held military parades across the country on the first day of Sacred Defense Week, commemorating the eight-year conflict with Iraq under the rule of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hossein in the 1980s. [MULTIMEDIA]
At the Tehran parade, which began on Saturday morning at the mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, in the South of the capital, President Masoud Pezeshkian, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami, and Chief of Staff of Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri were in attendance.
Similar processions are taking place across other Iranian provinces to mark the occasion.
Forces from the Iranian Army, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Police, Border Guards, and Basij are participating in the parades.
