An informed source close to the Iranian negotiating team, responding to the White House’s claim that talks with Iran had been “canceled until further notice,” stressed that no direct negotiations between Iran and the United States were taking place in the first place.
Following the White House’s claim that negotiations with Iran had been suspended until further notice, the informed source close to the negotiating team told a Fars News Agency reporter that any claim of direct talks between Iran and the United States was baseless, stating that no such negotiations had been under way.Referring to the White House claim, the source said: “Discussions concerning the exercise of sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz were held with Oman.”He emphasized: “After the United States violated the Islamabad understanding, talks with the American side were halted, and the recent discussions with the Omani side had no connection to the United States.”
