President Pezeshkian: Iran Defied US-Israeli Plans for Collapse, Foiling Their Malicious Goals
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the United States and the Israeli regime had believed that attacking Iran would cause the country to collapse, but the Iranian people stood firm against the treacherous enemy and prevented it from achieving its malicious objectives.
Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Saturday morning, held on the occasion of Journalists’ Day, President Pezeshkian stressed that the steadfast defense by Iranian fighters, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian Army, together with the exceptional defense and presence of the Iranian people, foiled the enemies’ plans.He said that both those who have always been present on the scene and raised the flag of the Islamic Republic in the field, as well as those who have in fact had differences with the government, all stood together and contributed to thwarting the enemies’ malicious objectives.Pezeshkian added that the United States and the Israeli regime, which are pursuing anti-human policies, along with “genocidal Zionists,” attacked Iran with the military capabilities and technologies at their disposal, believing that the existing imbalances in the country would enable them to bring Iran down. However, they failed.Emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s position toward the United States has not changed, Pezeshkian said: “America is an imperialist power; America is criminal. There is no doubt about that. But these very talks, these discussions and this diplomacy forced America to come to the table for an agreement and understanding with Iran.”
The president said the enemy’s calculations had been based on creating collapse and internal divisions, adding: “The reason they do these things is that all their calculations were based on the assumption that if they attacked, Iran would be torn apart. But that did not happen.”Referring to the violation of the arrangements concerning the Strait of Hormuz and the Islamic Republic of Iran’s response, Pezeshkian said: “Under the Islamabad Memorandum, they were supposed to act in accordance with instructions that the Islamic Republic and Oman were jointly defining. They did not do so, and we responded accordingly.”Pezeshkian also pointed to the economic impact of attacks on Iran's infrastructure, factories and production centers, saying: “When you put together the factories that were attacked, the workers who became unemployed, and the damage that was inflicted, the scale of the issue becomes clear.”President Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran would continue along the path of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei, stressing that his path, words, outlook and conduct remain alive in their minds as the course they must continue to follow — and will remain so.
