IRGC Says It Struck US Fifth Fleet Command Center in Bahrain
The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said its naval forces launched the fifth wave of Operation Nasr 2 (Victory 2) early Wednesday, targeting the US Navy's Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and striking key command, logistics and fuel facilities.
In a statement, the IRGC said the operation targeted the US Fifth Fleet's NSI management center, command and control center, major warehouses storing military parts and equipment, and fuel depots in Bahrain.The statement said the facilities were struck and destroyed during the operation.The IRGC added the United States has deployed naval forces in the Indian Ocean and claiming control over the Strait of Hormuz, saying the move had effectively blocked maritime routes and disrupted the flow of regional oil and gas exports. It said the strike on the Fifth Fleet was carried out in response to those actions.The statement warned that if US actions continued to impede energy exports from the region, other oil and gas export routes serving US and allied interests could also face disruption."Either the region's oil and gas exports are available to everyone, or they will be available to no one," the statement said.The United States has carried out repeated attacks on Iranian territory since April 7, when US President Donald Trump announced a unilateral ceasefire during the latest round of US-Israeli military action against Iran.Those attacks continued after Washington and Tehran signed a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding in June, whose first provision called for a halt to military operations on all fronts.
The United States has also sought to escort vessels through an unauthorized maritime corridor in the Strait of Hormuz, bypassing shipping routes designated by the Islamic Republic for safe and lawful navigation.Iran's Armed Forces have responded to each such incident with military retaliation, including against efforts to facilitate unauthorized vessel movements through the Strait of Hormuz.
