Iranian Lawmakers Pledge Retribution, Seek Law on Avenging Martyred Leader

More than 180 members of the Iranian Parliament issued a statement stressing the necessity of pursuing "revenge" and "retribution" against those responsible for the martyrdom of the martyred Leader of the Revolution and other officials, as well as the martyrs of the wars of aggression waged by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran.
The lawmakers emphasized that avenging the blood of the martyred Leader of the Revolution and exacting retribution from the killers, those who ordered the crime, and its perpetrators is inevitable and cannot be overlooked. Referring to the positions of senior Shia clerics (maraji'-e taqlid) and members of the Assembly of Experts regarding the obligation to shed the blood of those responsible for this crime, the lawmakers pledged to the Iranian people that they would not neglect, even for a moment, efforts, planning, or practical measures aimed at achieving this objective. They also pledged to intensify their efforts to meet the country's legislative needs under the current critical circumstances, including the enactment of a law on avenging the blood of the martyred Leader of the Revolution and the martyrs of the recent wars, enforcing Iran's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, and establishing effective strategic deterrence against any new hostile acts by the American-Zionist enemy. The lawmakers further stressed the need for the country's officials to adopt firm positions, strengthen Iran's defensive deterrence, and pursue the Supreme Leader's conditions and directives in foreign policy.
The Iranian lawmakers stated that Parliament considers it its duty to put in place the necessary legal mechanisms and decisive deterrent measures, ranging from advancing and effectively transforming the country's defense doctrine to passing legislation on the management and governance of the Strait of Hormuz. The members of Parliament also emphasized the need to make greater efforts to meet the requirements of Iran's armed forces.
