Iranian Military Source: No Vessel Traffic Taking Place Through Strait of Hormuz
A Fars News Agency correspondent has learned that no vessel traffic is currently taking place through the strategic Strait of Hormuz and that all movements in the area are under the intelligence surveillance of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to the information obtained, some foreign parties have in recent days sought to establish alternative routes to enable a number of vessels to transit the waterway. A military source told Fars that US officials have held talks with several countries and vessel owners, offering to escort ships in exchange for approximately 20 percent of the value of their cargoes. According to the source, vessels participating in the plan attempt to pass covertly through the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz by switching off their navigation and radar systems upon entering the area. The Fars correspondent also learned that all such movements are under the intelligence surveillance of the Iranian Armed Forces and that disabling navigation systems does not prevent the identification and tracking of vessels. The military source stressed that any vessel attempting to pass through the area would face action by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The source added that two vessels violating the prescribed regulations were targeted by Iranian armed forces last night after breaching the established rules. According to military sources, the enemy had previously used unmanned remotely operated vessels to target one of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army's bases. In response, the command, control, and guidance center for those vessels was completely destroyed today in a precise operation.
