Official: Bab El-Mandeb to Enter War Equation if Iran Attacked, Triggering Oil Price Spike to $250
The Special Assistant to Iran's Minister of Interior, highlighting the importance of the three strategic straits of Hormuz, Malacca, and Bab el-Mandeb as the world's most critical chokepoints, warned that in the event of an aggression against Iran, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait would also enter the war equation, resulting in a sharp surge in oil prices.
Brigadier General Nami, speaking on a television program and referring to Iran's geopolitical position and the role of vital straits in global energy security, stated: "The three straits of Hormuz, Malacca, and Bab el-Mandeb are the most key strategic chokepoints in the world, and any change in their status directly impacts oil prices and international security."Brigadier General Nami added: "To date, for strategic and tactical reasons, we have primarily utilized the capacity of the Strait of Hormuz, but this does not mean that other options are ignored."He emphasized: "If we are ever forced to do so, or if we come under military aggression, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait will also enter the war equation. In that scenario, oil prices will rapidly cross the `$200 threshold and climb to $250."The Special Assistant to Iran's Minister of Interior noted that the activation of Bab el-Mandeb alongside the Strait of Hormuz would mean the complete disruption of global energy supply routes and a major shift in the balance of economic and military power in the region.
