Iran President Condemns Trump Desecration of Christ, Insult to Pope Leo, Leader of World Catholics
Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, condemned the desecration of Jesus Christ and the insult to Pope Leo, the leader of the world's Catholics, by US President Donald Trump.
Writing on X, Pezeshkian stated: "The desecration of Jesus Christ, the Prophet of peace and brotherhood, is unacceptable to any free person."President Pezeshkian also wrote: "Your Holiness Pope Leo, on behalf of the great nation of Iran, I condemn the insult directed at you and declare that the desecration of Jesus Christ, the Prophet of peace and brotherhood, is unacceptable to any free person."Pezeshkian added: "I pray to Almighty God for your success and honor."Trump delivered an extraordinary broadside against Leo on Sunday night, saying he didn’t think the U.S.-born global leader of the Catholic Church is “doing a very good job.” Flying back to Washington from Florida, Trump used a lengthy social media post to sharply criticize Leo, then kept it up after deplaning, in comments on the tarmac to reporters.“I’m not a fan of Pope Leo,” he said.Trump’s comments came after Leo suggested over the weekend that a “delusion of omnipotence” is fueling the US-Israel war in Iran.
