Iran’s Young Innovator Develops Dual-Action Solution to Prevent Pipeline Corrosion, Blockages
A project selected at Iran’s Young Kharazmi Festival has introduced a single compound capable of simultaneously preventing pipeline corrosion and blockages in oil and gas transmission lines.
At the 39th Young Kharazmi Festival, four projects were selected, each receiving third place, while no entries were deemed worthy of first or second prize.Alireza Allahyari, Executive Secretary of the 39th Kharazmi International Award, noted that although some of the selected projects were highly valuable and commendable, none had successfully passed the semi-industrial stage. “Given the high standards of the Kharazmi Festival, we do not select projects that have not demonstrated success at the semi-industrial level,” he stated.Allahyari highlighted one particularly significant invention in the innovation category: “Design and Development of Dual-Function Inhibitors for Simultaneous Prevention of Gas Hydrate Formation and Internal Corrosion in Oil and Gas Pipelines.”He explained that internal corrosion in oil and gas pipelines remains a major challenge for the energy industries of many countries. The newly developed solution addresses this issue effectively and is now expected to be introduced to the oil and gas sector to enter semi-industrial and industrial phases. The Kharazmi International Award is one of the oldest and most prestigious scientific festivals in the Islamic Republic of Iran. It aims to identify and honor outstanding scientific research and innovations. The festival is held at three levels: youth, adolescent, and international.
