Iran Adds 750 mw of New Solar Capacity to National Power Grid

Iran has brought 750 megawatts of newly developed solar power capacity online across multiple provinces, marking a major expansion of the country’s renewable energy infrastructure.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Monday, was attended by Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The projects have been implemented with an investment exceeding 22.5 trillion tomans and are estimated to result in annual savings of more than 400 million cubic meters of natural gas in Iran’s power generation sector. The expansion of this new capacity is expected to play a significant role in enhancing grid stability, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and increasing the share of renewable energy in the country’s electricity generation mix.Among the power plants brought online are 115 megawatts in Markazi Province, 45 megawatts in Bushehr Province, 6 megawatts in Mazandaran Province, and 24 megawatts in West Azerbaijan Province, all of which were inaugurated online by President Pezeshkian.Speaking at the ceremony, President Pezeshkian stated that the measures taken in this sector have led to improved electricity supply management this year compared to the same period last year, adding that with the commissioning of ongoing projects, Iran is expected to face fewer challenges in electricity supply next summer. The President emphasized that the government’s priority is to prevent power outages, particularly in the industrial and manufacturing sectors.
He further noted that replacing gas with electricity in the household sector, alongside the parallel development of renewable energy in areas such as transportation and industry, would help safeguard national resources and contribute to meaningful progress in addressing Iran’s economic, social, and environmental challenges.
