IRGC Navy Seizes Marshall Islands–Flagged Tanker for Carrying Unauthorized Petrochemical Cargo
The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that, in line with protecting the interests and resources of the Iranian nation, the tanker Talara was seized by its forces due to transporting unauthorized cargo.
On Friday morning, after receiving a judicial order to detain the cargo of a tanker operating under the commercial name Talara and flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, IRGC rapid-reaction units began monitoring the vessel’s movements, subsequently intercepting and detaining it. The tanker, carrying 30,000 tons of petrochemical products and en route to Singapore, was directed to an anchorage for investigation into its violations. The IRGC Navy stated that the operation was carried out successfully in accordance with legal mandates and under instructions from judicial authorities, aiming to safeguard the national interests and resources of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It added that full disclosure of details required a thorough inspection of the ship, its cargo, and related documents — a process that has now confirmed the vessel’s violation for transporting unauthorized goods.
