Iran Becomes Fifth Country to Manufacture Advanced Industrial Supercapacitors
The head of the Chemical Industries Research Group at Iran’s Academic Jihad announced that the organization has successfully designed and produced a domestically made industrial supercapacitor, placing Iran among the five countries in the world with this technology.
Nourali Mohammadi reported that the indigenous industrial supercapacitor was developed at the Research Institute for the Development of Chemical Industries of Academic Jihad, making Iran the fifth nation to achieve this feat. He stated that until now, the technical know-how for producing industrial supercapacitors was monopolized by Canada, South Korea, China, and the United States. Mohammadi added that Iran has managed to produce a laboratory-scale prototype with quality comparable to highly advanced foreign models. Electric vehicles, elevators, and wind turbines are among the main applications of these capacitors, which boast a physical lifespan of about 10 years and a cycle life of over one million cycles. Compared to conventional batteries, they can release energy in a much shorter time. Referring to Iran’s development plans for electric vehicles and advanced industries, Mohammadi said Academic Jihad is ready to attract investors to establish a mass production line for supercapacitors in the country.
