With the finalization of structural changes in Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, informed sources report the establishment of a new “Defense Council.”
According to Fars News Agency, these sources noted that the Defense Council will be a new body with strategic missions in the field of the country’s defense policies, and its structure will be finalized soon.Based on available information, Ali Larijani, advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, is likely to be appointed in the coming days as Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. Meanwhile, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, the current Secretary of the Council, is expected to take charge of several special and strategic national dossiers.These dossiers involve forward-looking and strategic missions that require high-level management and coordination.According to the report, the Defense Council is considered part of the new governance arrangement in the field of defense and security in the country.
