President Pezeshkian at ECO Summit: Iran Gave Aggressors Unforgettable Lesson

The President of Iran emphasized that the Iranian Armed Forces, invoking Article 51 of the UN Charter, defended the honorable people of Iran, the country’s national sovereignty, and territorial integrity within the framework of the legitimate right to self-defense — and delivered a decisive response that gave the Zionist and American aggressors an unforgettable lesson.
Speaking on Friday at the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Khankendi, Republic of Azerbaijan, Masoud Pezeshkian said while negotiations were ongoing between Iran and the US, the Zionist regime launched savage attacks and aggression against Iran.He added: "These actions were a blatant and grave violation of all norms and principles of international law — especially Paragraph 4 of Article 2 of the United Nations Charter — and unfortunately, they were carried out with the involvement of the invading US military."The President stated that during the 12 days of attacks, a series of criminal actions were committed against off-duty military personnel, university professors, civilian citizens, peaceful nuclear facilities under IAEA supervision, and public infrastructure in Iran — resulting in extensive human and material losses.Pezeshkian also expressed gratitude for the responsible positions taken by regional countries, particularly the ECO member states, during the recent crisis. He further emphasized the need to expand trade interactions among ECO members based on the 2035 Vision Document, stating: "An 8% intra-regional trade share is absolutely indefensible. One of the goals of ECO’s 2025 Vision was to achieve free trade within the region — a goal that still remains out of reach."
He also highlighted the importance of tourism in enhancing economic cooperation among ECO members and called for the establishment of direct flights between member states.Additionally, Pezeshkian proposed that an ECO Artificial Intelligence Center be established as a regional specialized institution. The member states of ECO are: The Islamic Republic of Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
