FM: Iran’s Response to Snapback Activation to Be Severe
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araqchi, warned that if the snapback mechanism is activated in Iran’s nuclear case and UN sanctions are reinstated, Iran’s response will be severe.
This statement was conveyed by Ebrahim Rezaei, the spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, quoting Araqchi. On Sunday, Araqchi attended a session with members of this commission and elaborated on the indirect Iran-US talks and related matters.Quoting Araqchi, Rezaei emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not negotiate under pressure. The intelligent strategy of the establishment is to engage in indirect negotiations, which are solely focused on the nuclear issue. He added that the policy of the Islamic Republic is clear and it does not succumb to pressure, threats, or inducements.Rezaei said the Foreign Minister referred to the Zionist regime’s opposition to uranium enrichment inside Iran and stressed that while the Islamic Republic welcomes the establishment of a regional enrichment center, enrichment within Iran must continue.According to Rezaei, members of the National Security Commission also expressed their views, with the general sentiment being negative toward the Iran-US negotiations. Some members insisted that negotiations with the US are futile and strongly criticized the sanctions imposed by the US concurrently with the talks.
