Iranian Defense Minister: Maritime Industry Achieved Full Self-Sufficiency

Iranian Defense Minister, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has achieved complete self-sufficiency in defense and military sectors, from subsurface to surface levels.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday on the sidelines of the commissioning ceremony of 13 vessels in Khorramshahr, Southern Iran, Brigadier General Nasirzadeh announced that four tugboats and nine search-and-rescue vessels, built by the Iranian Defense Ministry’s maritime industries at the request of the Ports and Maritime Organization, have been delivered to the organization.The Iranian Defense Minister emphasized that four of these vessels were constructed in Khorramshahr, noting that the development of the maritime industry in the city is on the agenda and can create job opportunities for the region’s youth.Brigadier General Nasirzadeh added that Iranian youth can supply a significant portion of the workforce for the country’s maritime industry, and this capacity can play a major role in reducing unemployment rates.He also announced the start of construction on nine new vessels under the Defense Ministry’s supervision.Additionally, the Iranian Defense Minister congratulated the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr during the imposed war by Iraq against Iran in the 1980s.
