Spokesman: Iran-US Technical Expert Meeting to Be Held on Saturday
The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced that, following a proposal by Oman and an agreement between Iran and the US, the Tehran-Washington technical advisory meeting—originally scheduled for Wednesday—has been postponed to Saturday, with the heads of the two countries' delegations in attendance.
According to agreements reached during the meeting between Iranian and US delegations in Rome, a technical expert meeting between Iran and the US was supposed to take place indirectly this Wednesday, facilitated by Oman in Muscat. In this regard, Esmail Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, told reporters that the technical meeting will now be held on Saturday, April 26. The second round of indirect talks between Iran and the US, coordinated and facilitated by Oman’s Foreign Minister, was held in Rome last Saturday, with the participation of Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi and US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff. During the Rome meeting, senior Iranian and American negotiators outlined the general framework of the talks and exchanged views on key issues related to sanctions removal and nuclear matters. Given that decisions on both "effective sanctions lifting" and "confidence-building regarding the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program" require more detailed discussions at the expert level, it was agreed that technical teams from Iran and the US would hold a meeting in Muscat this Wednesday, facilitated by Oman’s Foreign Ministry.
