Iran Witnessing Growth in International Impact Index in Scientific Publications

Over the past three years, Iran has seen a 106-point increase in the international impact index for scientific articles by Iranian researchers in reputable databases.
One of the key indicators of a country's scientific impact and productivity is the h-index, which assigns each researcher a score based on the number of articles they've published and the citations their work has received. This score reflects the researcher's standing in the academic world and the extent to which others reference their work.According to reports from reputable sources like Scopus and Web of Science, Iran’s h-index has grown by 106 points from 2021 to 2024.Additionally, around 16 Persian-language journals have been added to Scopus. Meanwhile Peyman Salehi, Deputy Minister of Research at the Ministry of Science, mentioned in an interview with Fars News Agency that the number of Iranian scientific journals in the international DOAJ database has increased from 601 to 888, raising Iran's global ranking from 9th to 6th place.
