Diplomat: Iran Not in Talks with US
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baqaei stated that Tehran is not currently engaged in negotiations with Washington but instead is focused on discussions with Oman to determine a shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz.
The exchange of messages through mediators on ongoing developments was, however, a normal occurrence, the Iranian spokesperson told reporters on Monday.
Iranian officials say Tehran will not engage in new negotiations with Washington as long as it keeps violating a war-ending Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two sides.Tehran and Washington signed the Islamabad MoU in mid-June after 40 days of war, but the US effectively violated the accord by striking Iran. In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have conducted devastating attacks against strategic American targets across West Asia.
Baqaei explained that Iran’s next step would depend on the circumstances and developments pertaining to the situation.
