Supreme Leader Appoints Ex-Security Chief as His Political Aide

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei appointed former Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr as his political adviser.
In a decree issued on Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei said the appointment was made given Zolqadr’s “valuable” experience.
Zolqadr, a veteran military commander, was appointed by President Masoud Pezeshkian as secretary of the SNSC in March with the endorsement of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution.Earlier on Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei appointed former Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) chief commander Mohsen Rezaei as his representative to the SNSC, Iran’s highest national security decision-making body.
The Leader expressed hope that Zolqadr would successfully carry out his new responsibilities and contribute to advancing the ideals of the Islamic Revolution.
