Tehran Warns Bulgaria Against Supporting US War Against Iran
Tehran warned Sofia against approving an American request to station military aircraft at its air fields, warning the European country that backing US military onslaught against Iran would make Bulgaria complicit in Washington's crimes.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baqaei said Tuesday Bulgaria is fully aware that the recent US military assault against Iran constituted a violation of the United Nations Charter and international law.He added any participation in preparing or facilitating such operations would amount to complicity in the crimes of aggression and war crimes.
According to reports, the Bulgarian government is considering a US request to deploy military aircraft at Bezmer Air Base in support of operations related to the war on Iran.
Baqaei expressed surprise over remarks attributed to Bulgarian Prime Minister Roman Radov regarding the reported request, stressing that even considering support for an "illegal war" against Iran would be inconsistent with Bulgaria's international legal obligations and the principle of respect for national sovereignty.
